Set on a compact 7-perch urban block in School Lane, Nawala, this home was designed for a young couple with two children.
Bounded on three sides by neighboring properties, the design turns constraint into opportunity through clever manipulation of wall angles, light, and ventilation, ensuring the interiors remain bright and breathable.
The spatial journey begins with modest entry heights, leading into a dramatic double-height living space at the heart of the home. This volume expands the sense of openness, making the house feel larger than its footprint. A sun-washed, see-through staircase rises through this core, drawing light deep into the interior while connecting the levels both visually and spatially.
The staircase and soaring living space beckon the eye and body upward, culminating in the roof terrace. Here, the home releases itself from the density of the city, offering a sense of exhilarating freedom—an escape into open sky, high above the tight fabric of the urban surroundings.
