No. 50, House by the sea, Dehiwala.

House by
the Sea

As Marine Drive’s expansion claimed their gardens and open spaces, the family embraced the change, transforming their properties into a home where comfort and opportunity coexist.

The ground floor serves as the public zone, housing the reception, staircase, lifts, and rentable space for a restaurant. The first and second floors are dedicated to the family, each featuring two comfortable two-bedroom apartments, while the third and fourth floors provide rooms for the tourist industry.

The exterior colors were chosen for durability along the busy highway, while interiors feature pure white walls accented with a single color in each space, enhancing the constant ocean vistas.

Through clever design, the natural rigidity of the structure—rooted in practical planning—is softened, creating a sense of openness and fluidity throughout the home.Every room, across the road, captures unobstructed glimpses of the sea, turning limited urban space into a residence that celebrates both the sun and the sea.

A rooftop terrace tops the building, offering guests a dining experience with sweeping ocean views, and is also available for private functions.

From the rooftop, guests are treated to breathtaking sunsets, a perfect daily spectacle where sky and sea meet in golden harmony.
